State Tretyakov Gallery is the world’s biggest museum of Russian Painting, founded by P.M.Tretyakov in 1856. The museum owns a great collection of icons created by the painters of the main Russian Schools of Art, including the works by Feofan Grek and Andrey Rublev. This museum houses the best pieces of Russian art and sculpture of the 18-th and the first half of the 19-th centuries, historical documents on Russian artistic culture of the 18-20-th centuries, private collections of artists and virtuosi.
